Madrid, July 15, 2024. The CT Solutions team has successfully completed the collaborative R&D&i project for the automation and digitalization of the vehicle movement process in campas using AGVs, thanks to the leadership of CIAC – Clúster de la Indústria d’Automoció de Catalunya and the consortium formed with the participating companies: CYP Core and Sicasoft.

Due to the boom in technologies associated with Industry 4.0, one of the technologies that is having the greatest impact is the use of advanced robotics with the implementation of AGVs (Automatic Guided Vehicles) to automate logistics processes for transportation, material supply and transfer of finished products.

In order to improve the areas of potential identified in Phase I of the project, this second phase was proposed in which an efficient and cost-effective automation solution was designed and implemented to fully manage all the car storage areas of a leading automotive OEM. This was achieved through advanced planning of the automation scenarios for the finished vehicle field placement process defined in Phase I of the project.

In the case of CT Solutions, we have developed two Digital Twins: the first simulates one of the current yards, while in the second, the current yard is replaced by an automated high-rise warehouse. In both models, vehicle transportation via AGVs has been simulated.

The Digital Model will feature a 3D representation and the corresponding behavior logics to study the two automation options defined in Phase I of the project. This will allow the selection of the option to be used from the Digital Twin through parameters. Additionally, simulations and studies were conducted for the subsequent optimization of the process and to obtain results, with the aim of achieving full validation of the installation and/or the defined process.

To visualize both automation processes, we have created two illustrative videos for the two cases studied. These videos showcase the battery charging area for the AGVs, the automated yards, the shipping transport area, the movement of the vehicles, the configuration of the initial parameters, and the output data that can be obtained.

This project has been funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism under the #AEI2023 call: AEI-010500-2023-183.
