The project led by Avantek achieved truly innovative results for the machine tool sector.
AUTOMAHE_IA is one of the projects within the program to support Innovative Business Associations (AEIs) managed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism. In this project, Avantek, a company belonging to CT, collaborates with other companies such as Nicolás Correa and IBARMIA. Additionally, AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Machine Tools, Accessories, Components, and Tools), leads the project with the commitment to develop innovative solutions in the machine tool sector.
The technical needs that led to the creation of AUTOMAHE_IA are:
– Creating a flexible and scalable post-processor development environment compatible with any CAD/CAM software on the market, as well as with any numerical control used by major machine tool manufacturers, valid for 3 and 5 axes. This will allow greater interoperability between different systems and facilitate the programming of machines from different manufacturers.
– Addressing the historical problem of accompanying machining centers with a PLUG and PLAY post-processor that is ready even before the machine is made available to the customer.
– Connecting the classic technology of this sector with the use of artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing technologies. These technologies are used to improve precision in the manufacturing process, resulting in more precise geometries and higher quality in the construction of high-tech value systems.
Therefore, the main contribution of this project to the metal cutting manufacturing sector is that thanks to AUTOMAHE_IA, companies will be able to break free from the dependency that existed until now between CAD/CAM software and CNC machines,established with classical post-processors. These post-processors, once established and operational, only allow communication between a specific pair, preventing companies from having sufficient agility in their technological strategy in this area.
The development of post-processors has been ongoing since the 1980s. AUTOMAHE_IA, being developed with the new techniques and tools available today, will allow connecting to the benefits of current technologies in the software development sector.
Thanks to AUTOMAHE_IA, it is expected to address new challenges and complement the revolution that Industry 4.0 technology has allowed us and our clients and partners to enjoy, with the latest advancements in the mechanical manufacturing sector.
