The REVIA project<\/strong> (Experimental Development of Advanced Solutions for the Second Life of Batteries) is positioned as a key initiative within the Spanish industrial ecosystem, focused on the intelligent reuse of batteries from light electric vehicles. Launched in 2025 with a 12-month<\/strong> duration, the project has a budget of \u20ac811,121<\/strong>, funded under the AEI 2025 (L4) program.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A Strategic Project for Sustainable Mobility<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The main objective of REVIA is to develop innovative solutions that optimize the performance, safety, and efficiency of reused batteries<\/strong>, while contributing to more sustainable mobility<\/strong> aligned with the principles of the circular economy<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

To achieve this, the project will use Millor Battery’s industrial plant as its validation environment<\/strong>, where the developed technologies will be tested under real operating conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

This initiative addresses one of the industry’s major challenges: extending battery lifespan<\/strong>, reducing waste, and strengthening the competitiveness of the industrial sector, particularly in the field of electric mobility.<\/span><\/p>\n

Industrial and Technological Collaboration<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

REVIA brings together 9 organizations<\/strong> combining industrial and technological expertise<\/strong>: <\/span>CIAC \u2013 Cl\u00faster de la Ind\u00fastria d’Automoci\u00f3 de Catalunya, <\/span>Digital Cluster of Catalonia, <\/span>CEP \u2013 Spanish Plastics Centre, <\/span>MAV \u2013 Advanced Materials Cluster of Catalonia, <\/span>Leartiker, <\/span>Thinex Rotimpres, <\/span>In\u00e8dit, <\/span>CT Solutions, and <\/span>Millor Battery.<\/span><\/p>\n

This collaborative approach accelerates technology development and its transfer to the market.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two Key Innovation Areas<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The project is structured around two main lines of action:<\/span><\/p>\n

1. New Materials for Safer and Lighter Batteries<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

REVIA will develop advanced polymer battery enclosures<\/strong> incorporating:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Passive thermal management<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Printed sensors<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    These innovations will improve the safety, thermal stability, and efficiency<\/strong> of batteries throughout both their first and second life.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2. Industrial Digitalization Through a Digital Twin<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    The second innovation area focuses on implementing a digital twin (CT Solutions)<\/strong> at the Millor Battery plant, capable of:<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Identifying production bottlenecks<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Reducing scrap<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Optimizing logistics processes<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      This will support data-driven decision-making and improve operational efficiency.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Expected Results: Efficiency, Safety, and Sustainability<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

      The REVIA project is expected to achieve significant advances across multiple areas:<\/span><\/p>\n

      • 30% to 50% weight reduction<\/strong> in battery enclosures<\/span><\/li>\n
